In an exclusive new report from Deadline, it has been announced that The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco will star in a new thriller titled Vanished.
Joining Cuoco as cast members on the new show are Sam Claflin (Me Before You), Karin Viard (The Bélier Family) and Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of Thieves). Claflin is best known for appearing in films like The Hunger Games and Me Before You and for his TV work on shows like Peaky Blinders and Daisy Jones & the Six. The latter earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Viard is a veteran of the French film industry with features such as The Bélier Family and Delicatessen. She is a 13-time Cesar nominee.
The logline for the new show is as follows:
When a romantic getaway to Paris takes a dark turn with the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend Tom (Claflin) aboard a train to the south of France, Alice (Cuoco) is plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew.
The show will be fully financed and co-produced by Stuart Ford’s AGC Television. Barnaby Thompson will be direct. The show is set to begin filming on location in Paris and Marseille at the end of April.
Cuoco is best known for starring as ‘Penny’ on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory for 12 seasons, which made her one of the highest-paid actresses on television. Vanished is just one of Cuoco’s many television projects since the end of The Big Bang Theory. Since the show’s end in 2019, she has starred in Harley Quinn, The Flight Attendant and Based on a True Story. Cuoco was an executive producer on all three shows. The Flight attendant was her most acclaimed show to date, earning her nominations from the Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Emmys.
Vanished was announced ahead of Series Mania in Lille – a television festival where industry deals are made. The show will be looking for distributors and will likely be one of the hottest new deals available.
