Name: The Palmiros
Hometown: Livingston

The Palmiros are a modern day blues influenced rock n’ roll collective from Livingston, Scotland consisting of vocalist/guitarist Gary Mclean, lead guitarist Colin Anderson, bassist Callum Milligan and drummer Michael Cameron. These guys incorporate each musician’s individual influences from in and around this genre to produce a raw, energetic and distinguishable sound. They are proving tricky to compete with since they don’t really do things by the book.
The band dispense with the usual clichés associated with rock bands at the moment such as lame onstage gimmicks and borderline cringe-worthy banter with the crowd. Neither do they dress up in matching leather jackets, dark shades or slicked back hair as the generic “2015 rock band” stereotype is often portrayed by some if their contemporaries. Instead the guys focus on their sound by frequently performing without a set list, and allow the music to speak for itself.

With an abundance of gritty blues rock guitar solos often reminiscent of the Rolling Stones, a consistently intricate percussion section which holds everything together, fuzzy bass lines which are often left with space to improvise fills and raspy undertones behind the rock suited vocals, The Palmiros are definitely the real deal. And having recently released two fantastic new singles to SoundCloud, I highly recommend that you check out ‘Mojo Girl’ and ‘Frozen’. My personal preference lies with ‘Mojo Girl’ which holds a faster paced blues rock guitar and bass riff, and the entire setting of the song holds the interest of the listener effortlessly. With brash lyrics too, it’s an exciting song delivered by an exciting band. Believe the hype.
