Teapot Industries have been floating just under the British indie music radar for a while now, like a volcano that’s been dormant for too long, they’re likely to explode any time soon. It’s unsurprising that they’re lesser known considering their Italian origins, however listening to their experimental, prog-rock meets-electrica sound, it’s a surprise that they’re not better known. Their lyrics give philosophy a cool kooky edge, inspired by time, space and religion. Unsurprisingly, the band cite a wide range of musical influences: everything from Pink Floyd to Shakira to Jeff Buckley and back to Empire of the Sun, at a time when mundanity seems to reign over the indie rock scene, they represent a refreshing homecoming to what ‘indie’ used to mean.
All three members of the band are multi-instrumentalists which would make Teapot Industries an incredibly exciting band to see live, with a repertoire of some hand-crafted covers and one album already under their belt, there would be no need for the dreaded ‘filler’ track. Their 2014 EP: Teapot Industries Goes Live gives the listener an exciting pre-view of the band’s live performance with the added bonus of a new studio single: ‘Like To Be Alone Part 2’. At the current moment the band are playing gigs in their hometown of Rome but hopefully in the not-so-distant-future a European tour will materialise. As many Italians do, they seem to operate on a timescale entirely separate from the high-powered and high-pressure one of bands from the UK, preferring to take their time in production and recording as to not scrimp on the details.

Teapot Industries are a band who display some fresh individualism, their songs are well crafted and their influences highly intriguing. They’re a band who have definitely not fulfilled their potential as of yet. Eagerly awaiting their next contribution. Definitely one to watch.
