Name: Louis Berry
Hometown: Liverpool
Listen To: .45, Prince of Thieves
In an age where chart music is being dominated by sugarcoated tracks, one man from Liverpool is seeking to kick some soul back into it.
Fuelled by his experiences of poverty and despair, Louis Berry has his eyes set firmly on where he wants to be, and the 24 year-old from Liverpool certainly has the talent to back up the talk.
His high-octane style evokes comparisons of Bob Dylan, although smothered in grit and ruggedness. Such similarities aren’t going unnoticed, with Berry’s ‘25 Reasons’ drawing rave reviews from music critics, which has led to regular radio play and support from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and XFM’s John Kennedy.
Now signed to Ministry, Berry is currently applying the finishing touches to his debut album, which is being recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, James Bay), before he embarks on a UK tour in May. Berry’s perspective on the music industry is a breath of fresh air, with his no-nonsense demeanour being demonstrated through his authentic approach to songwriting, and his own admission of ‘there’s so much to say and no one is saying it. I’m going to be the guy who does it”.
Berry is a man with a plan, and this man is going to go far.
