Name: The Buffalo Riot
Hometown: Liverpool
Listen to: 1996
The Buffalo Riot are pure juxtaposition. Their vocals and general style ooze the American deep south, languid country tones and an undeniable old school rockstar vibe, all in spite of the fact that the band hail from Liverpool.
The band strike the perfect balance between the fresh and the familiar; classic rock and country tones are made new in tracks that feel comfortingly natural but also wonderfully new. The band’s set list – which I was lucky enough to experience first-hand when they supported The Bros. Landreth at The Garage on 3rd March – mixes heavier tracks with more gentle ones, providing their listeners with a varied experience run through with their signature, distinctive style.
To add to their talent, the band are a group of strikingly nice guys, all of whom are dedicated to creating “real music for real music fans” (as their Twitter bio proudly admits). I’m sure I’d be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn’t be able to pick out something they like about The Buffalo Riot’s music. Have a listen for yourself, and if you like what you hear, you can find the boys on Facebook and Twitter.
