On Friday, I got to talk to upcoming band: The Carnabys who seem to be causing a buzz all over the world at the minute. Having just got back from Mexico where they supported Imagine Dragons, I wanted to know what was next on the cards for this exciting new band.
Upon first hearing about the band you could be fooled into thinking that these are just another ‘under the radar’ band but no, they have already released their debut album No Money On The Moon in October of last year and have a string of celebrity fans – including Blondie, who they supported on tour last year.
When talking to them you realise that they really are dedicated to the band; in fact the interview even starts with Frank, the lead guitarist, announcing he has just been fired from his job. Moving on from this, the band begin to tell me how it hasn’t been easy to make it work, “We formed the band 3 and a half years ago and started out just playing covers in pubs as mates – now we are signed to Hard Rock Records.” They also make it clear that hard work isn’t something this London band shy away from, as they have an upcoming show on the 12th of this month at The Garage in London and a Coffee House Sessions Tour in March.
After watching their sound check, you can see why The Carnabys are kicking up a fuss at the minute, with strong vocals, catchy choruses and great riffs they really are a band to watch in 2015.
Wanting to know more about what they have in store for this year, they tell me they are on the line up for Isle Of Wight Festival and Calling Festival in the summer, and they plan on releasing a new single at the end of this month/ beginning of March and will be a song named ‘Where I’d Rather Be’ taken off the album. For now you can watch their latest video for ‘Is That My Body’
