This week The Indiependent caught up with The Glass Caves, a UK based alternative rock band playing a bunch of killer shows for the UK throughout the summer. With a similar sound that can only be described as a mix of Jimmy Eat World and Biffy Clyro, Glass Caves are definitely a band you’ll want to catch now before they take off even more.

THE INDIEPENDENT: Having toured the UK a fair bit this year, is there one show in particular that was the most memorable for you?
Loved playing Manchester Academy early in the year. We didn’t realise we had any sort of fan base there really but it turned out to be rammed and people were going crazy for it. Enjoyed the surprise.

THE INDIEPENDENT: Do you have any aspirations for the next year?
Our aspirations for the next year and to write write write until we have album 2 ready to roll.

THE INDIEPENDENT: Are there any artists that you dream of collaborating with?
Snoop Dog makes the cut. Love his lazy vocals.

THE INDIEPENDENT: Similarly, is there a particular venue that you’d love to sell out or even just play?
Red Rocks is a venue we’d love to play more than anywhere. Massive arena carved into rocks… how could you beat that?

THE INDIEPENDENT: To people who are only just discovering you – which tracks of yours do you suggest they check out?
Definitely check out our new single ‘Out of Control’. It’s one of our favourites from the album.

THE INDIEPENDENT: Would you play the Isle of Wight festival again and are there any other festivals you’d love to play?
Yeah Isle of Wight was a lovely festival. Chilled out but had loads of atmosphere. Would definitely love to go back. The Isle of Wight is like going abroad without having to go abroad.

THE INDIEPENDENT: Who are you listening to at the moment?

We have an unsigned band selection of CD’s in a glove box so we’ve just been playing those a lot recently. Notable bands… Forever Cult, JUDAS and Red Kites.

You can catch The Glass Caves at Close Up Festival in August.
