Skye Mallac: J.R.R. Tolkien

Tolkien

As one who has had their childhood practically shaped around Tolkien’s work, it seems only fitting that he remains one of my biggest inspirations to date. As a South African I hold great pride in the fact that this country was the birthplace of one of the world’s biggest literary icons.

As a writer myself, who has always aspired to write fantasy, Professor Tolkien’s magnificent work, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit has served as huge inspiration to my own work. Tolkien created an entire world in print, right down to thousands of years of concise history summed up in The Silmarillion.

If there is anything I really aspire to do in my lifetime, it is create a world that can just touch on the scope of Middle Earth.
