Independence Day 2 Synopsis Revealed

After the initial carnage that the aliens let loose on the Earth in 1996, it looks like they’re not finished with us just yet.

The news we’ve had so far with the Independence Day sequel is that it will premiere on June 24, 2016, Roland Emmerich is returning to direct (and has also written the screenplay with Carter Blanchard and Dean Devlin) with Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pulman reprising their previous roles. Will Smith, however, is not returning. But, we have Jessie Usher and Liam Hemsworth cast in the lead roles alongside Goldblum, A. Fox and Pulman.

Now we finally have a synopsis to sink our teeth into and speculate over for just over a year. Prepare yourselves: “After ‘Independence Day’ redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.”

Let’s just hope that the aliens don’t target monuments such as The White House again; there’s only so much rebuilding you can muster up between alien invasions.

If that synopsis alone doesn’t get you pumped up for the sequel, then this epic speech from the first movie should do the trick. C’mon, who doesn’t want to kick some alien ass after being given one of the best speeches in cinematic history by President Bill Pulman.
