Last year’s Handmade Festival saw the likes of Bo Ningen, TOY and Slaves among others take over and cause havoc at Leicester’s O2 Academy. It was a heavy line up which had some great performances, including the crowd favourite God Damn.
At the end of this month, Handmade will be back again for three days with a completely new line up, showcasing the greatest talent in Leicester, along with some new acts to keep your eye on. Here is The Indiependent’s eight acts to see at Handmade Festival.
Black Honey
The Brighton based band have appeared in numerous ones to watch lists for 2016 they have created quite a storm for themselves. The four piece have a fantastic dynamic, all completely driven by the luscious vocals of singer Izzy Baxter – like Courtney Love meets Lana Del Rey.
Having got several Radio 1 DJ’s onboard, Black Honey are now a regular on Huw Stephen’s playlist. Despite the sweet hooks and hand clapped hooks, there is some serious attitude hidden beneath all the niceties. Bassist Tommy Taylor can create a seriously funky bassline.
Trying to compare Black Honey’s sound to someone else doesn’t quite do them justice, they’re destined to go on and headline arena shows. Catch them on the first day of Handmade, playing on the Future Perfect stage.
