Last year’s Handmade Festival saw the likes of Bo Ningen, TOY and Slaves among others take over and cause havoc at Leicester’s O2 Academy. It was a heavy line up which had some great performances, including the crowd favourite God Damn.
At the end of this month, Handmade will be back again for three days with a completely new line up, showcasing the greatest talent in Leicester, along with some new acts to keep your eye on. Here is The Indiependent’s eight acts to see at Handmade Festival.
Johnny Lloyd
Probably best known for being the frontman of the now defunct (and criminally underrated) band Tribes, Johnny Lloyd has one of the most distinct voices around. With Tribes’ debut album, the band hit the top 20 of the UK album charts and toured worldwide extensively.
Johnny Lloyd has since gone his own way, following the band’s split in 2013, but the quality of the music he’s churning out hasn’t changed. Early release ‘Happy Humans’ showed off such a raw sound, coupled with some brilliant lyrics. Lloyd will release his ‘Dreamland’ EP in May, after debuting the brand new single ‘Hello Death’ produced by Jamie T.
Main stage on Sunday will be headlined by brummies Swim Deep, but Johnny Lloyd is definitely one that you can’t afford to miss that day. This will be a very intimate set.
