Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning musical Hamilton, about US founding father Alexander Hamilton, is set to tour the UK. The show has been running in London’s Victoria Palace Theatre since 2017, but for the first time, a touring cast will be taking the production around the country.

The tour will open at the Palace Theatre, Manchester on 11 November 2023 and run through until 24 February 2024. It will then move onto the Edinburgh Festival Theatre on 28 February, where it will run until 27 April. Further locations and tour dates are yet to be announced. Tickets for both locations will go on sale on 13 March.

Casting for the tour has yet to be announced.

The London run of the show is set continue alongside the tour and is currently booking through until March 2024.

Producer of the tour Cameron Mackintosh (whose company Delfont Mackintosh Theatres owns Hamilton’s London home, the Victoria Palace theatre) said: “I am thrilled that it is time to put together a second British national touring company to bring this great show to our leading cities.” He added that it was fitting that the show would be opening in Scotland because “the real story of Alexander Hamilton began in Ayrshire where his father was born in the 1700s, before he moved to Nevis in the West Indies.”

The UK tour is just the latest of many iterations of the production. The show has been running on Broadway since 2015, and as well as the West End iteration, it has also toured in North America, Australia and Germany.

The show features a book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda (who also originated the role of Hamilton), and has won the Pulitzer prize for drama, 11 Tony Awards and seven Olivier Awards.

Tour dates and venues can be found on the Hamilton website.
