Great British Bake Off: the Musical will premiere at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre this July.
Produced by Mark Goucher Productions Ltd in association with executive producer Richard McKerrow, co-creator of popular TV programme The Great British Bake Off, the musical comedy reimagines the nation’s favourite baking show.
The production follows the heart-warming journey of eight amateur bakers competing to impress two iconic judges and be crowned Star Baker. Each of the contestants tells their own story while facing trials, tribulations and baking fails.
Producer Mark Goucher, CEO of Mark Goucher Productions Ltd which created Tony award-winning Priscilla: Queen of the Desert and Hairspray, said: “The TV phenomenon Great British Bake Off gets to the heart of the nation, and for a long time I felt that it could work wonderfully well on the stage.
“We started working on the production a couple of years ago and With this talented creative team, and in association with the TV show’s creator, I hope we have created a musical comedy that will win over our audiences here at the Everyman Theatre.”
Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre has served the county since 1891 and continues to attract high audience occupancy rates despite the pandemic’s devastating impact on the live entertainment industry.
Performances of Great British Bake Off: the Musical run from 22 July to 6 August, with the show’s cast to be announced soon. Tickets start from £22 and can be purchased online.
