Georgina Burns’ Ravenscourt has begun its five-week run at the Hampstead Theatre until 29 October in the theatre’s downstairs space.
Directed by Hampstead Theatre’s Associate Director Tessa Walker, this new production follows the journey of mental-health professional Lydia as she begins her new job at Ravenscourt. Despite her exceptional drive and determination, she soon realises the magnitude of the odds stacked against her, having to contend with the ubiquitous feeling of indifference towards such a broken mental health system.
Josef Davies, Jon Foster, Andrea Hall and Lizzy Watts make up the cast.
Ravenscourt also features design by Debbie Duru, sound design by Anna Short, lighting design by Matt Haskins and movement directed by Rebecca Wield.
The show marks the first full-length play to be produced by Georgina Burns, a student of Hampstead Theatre’s INSPIRE course which offers emerging playwrights a chance to develop their craft under the mentorship of award-winning playwright Roy Williams.
Director Tessa Walker shared her excitement for Ravenscourt’s debut: “It is a great pleasure and privilege to be directing Georgina’s first produced full-length play, and the first piece that we have produced from our INSPIRE programme. Ravenscourt really captured my imagination when I read the script and I can’t wait to get started in rehearsals with this wonderful team.”
Tickets are available to purchase on the Hampstead Theatre website
