Nintendo have made what they describe as a “big decision” to delay the release of Star Fox Zero.

The game had initially been scheduled for a November release on Wii U, but now the game’s producer Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed this will now not happen.

In his statement, Miyamoto apologised to fans for the delay and explained that it was so the team could have more time to fully refine the game, which will utilise the Wii U’s GamePad to help players through various missions and scenarios:

“Although we felt the development had been progressing well, we now believe that we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes.”

Star Fox Zero is scheduled to be released on Wii U early 2016. Watch the trailer below.
