Microsoft has officially confirmed the title’s cancellation.
Platinum Games’ Scalebound has been officially cancelled. The news comes following earlier rumours of production trouble from @Doctor_Cupcakes on Twitter, which hinted at the possibility of a cancellation announcement.
No details have been released about the reasons behind the cancellation, with a Microsoft representative releasing the following statement to media outlets:
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
The statement also provides a link to the official Xbox website about the company’s plans for 2017. Scalebound had initially been announced in 2014, with plans for a 2016 release. Platinum Games delayed the release in early 2016, opting for a 2017 release.
