WB Games and NetherRealm Studios have unveiled the first look at Mortal Kombat 11. Following on from the game’s announcement at the Game Awards in December, fans got their first look at what they can expect in the April release.

At a special launch event in Los Angeles, developers showcased some new features for the game – including the most in-depth customisation options in the series so far – as well as a sneak peek of the roster, the iconic Fatalities and the story campaign.

Following on from their confrontation, the prologue trailer follows Dark Raiden and Shinook in the immediate aftermath. The prologue trailer also gave fans a first look at one of the new characters coming to the franchise – Kronika, the Keeper of Time, who has grown frustrated with what she calls the “defiance” of Earthrealm.

The reveal event also marked the official unveiling of Geras, a master of matter manipulation, and the announcement that Ronda Rousey will be playing Sonya Blade along with a first look at the game’s Collectors Edition and details about the upcoming pre-order beta.

Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on April 23. Watch the prologue trailer below.
