The legendary footballer is to sue over the unauthorised use of his likeness.
Diego Maradona has announced his intention to bring legal proceedings against Konami Games. In a post on his Facebook page, the Argentinian icon posted an image from PES 2017. The image is accompanied by the caption:
“I heard yesterday that the Japanese company Konami uses my image for its game PES 2017. Unfortunately, my lawyer Matias Moria will initiate the corresponding legal actions.”
The issues involve the game’s myClub mode, which includes other retired footballers, and bears Maradona’s name and likeness for player selection.
Konami Games have not made any comments regarding the case.
PES 2017 is available now on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.
