All About Play
One of the key points of the presentation was “play”. Whether it be getting people to play or thanking those who do, it was all about encouraging more and more play in the future. Along with announcing that there would be a large number of game updates coming, it was also announced that there would be free content available on EA and Origin Access to play during the next week.
Also announced was details of new gaming competition modes and online contests. “Challenger” events will allow players to host their own events, “Premier” events will see EA host events – occasionally with partners – on a large scale, with the top “EA Major” events featuring top players all over the world playing on an international stage for huge cash prizes.
Finally, EA also announced the “Play to Give” Initiative. This new initiative will see players being able to give a charitable donation simply by playing one of a series of games and unlocking various in-game achievements. By playing Battlefield 4, Battlefield: Hardline, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, FIFA 16 and NFL 16, players will be able to donate to one of five chosen charitable foundations:
- HeForShe
- Code.org
- CODE2040
- Special Effect
- National Center for Women & Information Technology
