The winners of the 21st DICE Awards have been announced. Hosted by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, the awards celebrate the best games of the past year. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the night’s big winner with four awards, including the coveted Game of the Year Award. Other multiple winners included Cuphead with three wins, with Horizon Zero Dawn and PlayerUnknown’s Battleground leading a number of dual winners at the Las Vegas ceremony.
The awards also honoured the work of Genyo Takeda, who was the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his work at Nintendo. In a career spanning over 40 years, Takeda played an integral role in Nintendo development in both hardware and software and was named the company’s Technology Fellow before his retirement in 2017.
