The announcement was made on the Bloodstained Kickstarter page.

Bloodstained: Ritual of The Night has been cancelled on Wii U. In a message posted on the game’s Kickstarter page, director Koji Igarashi explained that the game would instead be released on the Nintendo Switch; citing the shift in popularity with the consoles as the reason for the move:

During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of the Nintendo Switch. This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch.”

Backers have now been given the option of requesting a refund or choosing a different console edition of the game, which was first announced in 2015.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is scheduled to be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PC and Nintendo Switch in 2018. Watch the latest development update below.
