Opening the first full day of Gamescom is the briefing from Electronic Arts. Keeping it simple this time around for the start of the day was the key for this briefing and looking ahead to a selection of upcoming titles.
Need for Speed
First out of the gates was a deeper look at the upcoming Need for Speed. First previewed at E3, this latest title in the racing franchise looks to be bigger and better than before. With 5 story paths to go on – Style, Speed, Build, Crew and Outlaw – the choice is entirely up to the player about who they want to be in this game. With real world icons Ken Block, Magnus Walker, Nakai-san, Risky Devil and Morohoshi-san to impress, this game seeks to celebrate the franchise’s history but also look to the future.
Along with the latest preview trailer – which shows how the game will incorporate live action scenes with gameplay – was a special announcement from executive producer Marcus Nilsson. To celebrate the release of the game, Need for Speed will be designing the ultimate car with the help of it’s fanbase. This community led build project will result in the real life construction of one of two Porsche cars, which will be unveiled at this year’s SEMA trade show in Las Vegas. To top it off, some lucky fans will be invited to the show for a ride along in the finished car as a reward for their participation in the project.
