Funcom and Shiro Games have outlined their plans for Dune: Spice Wars in a new roadmap.
Launched on Steam Early Access in April this year, Dune: Spice Wars is a real-time strategy set in the universe of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel. Taking place on the planet Arrakis, players choose their side – House Atreides, House Harkonnen, Smugglers or Fremen – and try to establish a base of power on the planet while battling various dangers and obstacles.
This new roadmap has detailed four upcoming features and updates that are planned for the upcoming months.
Planned for a summer release, the Multiplayer update will give players more scope on their gameplay, with PvP and co-op being added after community feedback. During this time, a new faction will also be added allowing for a new dynamic to be introduced to the game’s story.
New units and buildings will be the central focus of the Air and Sand update, including spaceports, aerial units, and advanced unit types, while Heroes of Dune will unlock councillors – a group of characters who can also be used as special agents and who each come with unique abilities.
More updates have been teased by Funcom and Shiro Games, with players set to be regularly updated on new content and features coming to the game.
Dune: Spice Wars is available now on PC via Steam Early Access.
