Frank Ocean has just been announced as the first Lovebox Festival headliner for 2017.
The enigmatic R&B artist will perform at London’s Victoria Park on 14 July, in what will be his first UK performance in three years. (About bloody time!)
A representative for Lovebox said, “We are truly honoured to lead the way of our 15th anniversary this year with Frank Ocean. It will be an unforgettable Lovebox for all of London”.
Ocean released his long-awaited second album, Blonde, in August, which followed the release of a surprise visual record, Endless, a few days earlier.
Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake and André 3000 all featured on Blonde, which is considered one of the best albums of the year despite being ineligible for a Grammy Award nomination.
The elusive artist, who rarely gives interviews, broke his silence by revealing that he is working on new music, but may never release another album. We shed a few tears hearing that.
Ocean’s announcement is a major coup for the festival; whose headliners last year were Major Lazer and dance-punk group LCD Soundsystem. The remainder of the lineup is yet to be announced.
Tickets are available now from the festival’s website.
