Newquay’s surf and music festival is back again for 2017, and recently announced its first wave of performers for this year, featuring both larger and smaller names who will be playing on the beach this summer. Boardmasters this year will run between the 9th and 13th August.
Amongst the so-far announced headliners are Two Door Cinema Club – the band had a massive 2016, switching from their core indie rock vibe to more disco and funk sounds, in well-received album Gameshow. The band is taking on 2017’s festival season with a bang, but a more exclusive headliner for Boardmasters is Jamiroquai, with their appearance at the festival promoting the release of their first album in seven years, Automaton. Rounding off Boardmaster’s headliners are indie pop rockers alt-J, who will delight the crowd with the many alternative anthems to their name.
Delicious punk duo Slaves, acoustic indie-folk singer Jake Bugg, and pioneering drum ‘n’ bass DJ Andy C are also included in the festival’s first lineup announcement, in addition to Wild Beasts, Becky Hill, and Roger Sanchez. Rather than sticking to predominantly one genre of music, Boardmasters invites acts from many different musical backgrounds.
