Daisy Jones & The Six has been in post-production since filming was wrapped in May 2022. Finally, after minimal cast pictures (only released by cast members like Sam Claflin during the filming), the first look is out. Official stills, an eighteen-second clip, an interview with the directors and two leads Claflin and Keough, and an official ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ social media account; fans have been hit with a lot of content to satiate them before its release in March.
Based on a book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six takes on a pseudo-documentary format, with a series of questions and answers from different interviewees. It follows the beginnings of Daisy Jones and the band, The Six, and how they eventually came together and toured in the 70s. As book fans will be a large demographic to watch the show, it’s a good thing fans are also producing. An interview with Vanity Fair has highlighted the excitement of producers Scott Neustadter and Lauren Levy Neustadter.
Starring as the titular Daisy Jones is Riley Keough, American singing royalty as the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, known for The Earthquake Bird and The Girlfriend Experience. Sam Claflin plays the lead singer of The Six, Billy Dunne. Known for his role as Finnick Odair in another popular book adaption, The Hunger Games franchise, Claflin seems to be embodying rock-n-roll star Dunne in stills of him exiting a private jet to screaming fans. Suki Waterhouse (reuniting with Claflin after their stint in Love, Rosie), Will Harrison, Sebastian Chacon, and Josh Whitehouse are playing the rest of The Six. Camila Morrone will be starring as Camila Dunne (Billy Dunne’s wife), and Nabiyah Be as disco legend and Daisy’s partner-in-crime, Simone Jackson.
With any TV adaption, there’s sure to change. But what’s been confirmed is a six-episode series length and a confinement of a 20 year period. The pictures and clips give a sense of their costumes (70s sleeves, shaggy hair, Billy Dunne’s uniform—the Canadian tuxedo), the chemistry between the two leads, and shows The Six together. This insight will up the excitement before the eventual release. The clip gives you a hint of the soundtrack to come and with the ability to listen to the band’s track down the line, Daisy Jones & The Six is sure to be the rock-n-roll adventure the pictures promise.
