Console Three: The Nintendo DS – Big Hero: Battle In The Bay

Years of Production: 2004 – 2013, Final Game: Big Hero 6: Battle In The Bay

What was it about the Nintendo DS family that made it sell like hotcakes in its heyday? There are a number of reasons, one of which was the sheer number of software options you could enjoy. The last of a vast gaming library, Big Hero 6: Battle In The Bay was a 2015 movie tie-in game based on the world of Disney’s hit animated film Big Hero 6, from a year earlier.

Set after the movie, Battle In The Bay is an action adventure platform game spread over more than 30 levels in which you have to stop a battle bot invasion of San Fransokyo. You play as key characters from the film, each of whom bring something different to the game with unique abilities and powers.

While not exactly seen as a piece of timeless gaming gold, Big Hero 6: Battle Of The Bay seems to do what it says on the tin. There’s side scrolling, lots of leaping around, and taking on hordes of enemies.

You could potentially really get something out of Battle Of The Bay on the DS if you enjoy this style of tried and tested gameplay. Although functional, serviceable, and entirely harmless, I’d say that (in comparison) 2006’s New Super Mario Bros is still a more solid and enticing choice.
