A sequel has been confirmed for animated film The Secret Life of Pets, despite the fact that the movie is still in cinemas. The sequel has already been given a release date of July 13th 2018. The film will be co-produced by Illumination Entertainment, who worked on the first movie as well as the famously ‘marmite’ film Minions. Chris Renaud (director) and Brian Lynch (writer) will return to work on the sequel, resuming the roles they had in the production of the first film.
The green light has been given to the sequel for many reasons, one being that the original has already recouped its budget handsomely earning a gross of over $300,000,000 in the USA alone so far, from a mere $75,000,000 budget.
The story of the original involves a dog voiced by Louis CK whose life of security is soon disrupted when a new dog comes to live with them.
