Bradley Cooper is set to shine with his directorial debut of A Star is Born remake.

While this project has been in talks for several years, Warner Bros recently announced that they are finally moving forward with the film. Cooper, who will also star in the movie, has been involved for some time now, and is seeking out the talent of a major A-List costar.

In 2011, Beyoncé was attached to the remake, with Clint Eastwood directing, but had to drop out amidst her pregnancy with Blue Ivy. Rumors have swirled around ever since as to who will replace her, but they can now be laid to rest as Lady Gaga has officially confirmed her part in the film. Marking her first major feature film role, Gaga tweeted, “Im elated to be directed by & starring w/ Bradley in this project. He’s a brilliant visionary artist. #AStarIsBorn #AStarIsBornCooperGaga.” And I’m sure nobody will complain following her Golden Globe winning performance in American Horror Story: Hotel last year.

A Star is Born, at its core, follows a fading leading man as he helps – and inevitably starts a budding romance with – a rising Hollywood starlet. This will mark the fourth time the film has been made, making its initial introduction in 1937 with Janet Gaynor as the lead, Judy Garland in the 1954 version, and Barbra Streisand in the 1976 adaptation. If Bradley Cooper succeeds in directing, and Lady Gaga performs up to par, it is quite possible the film will receive major Oscar buzz.

While no official release date has been announced, production for A Star is Born is scheduled to being in early 2017. Lady Gaga is also set to write and perform new original songs to accompany the film.
