When it comes to festivals, Rob Da Bank, is one of the most adventurous and hard working festival organisers on the planet. He has the hugely popular Bestival on the Isle of Wight, alongside its twin festival in Canada and then the more family orientated Camp Bestival held in Dorset. This wasn’t enough for Da Bank however as last year he set up Common People, a 2 day urban festival held at Southampton Common. With headliners Fat Boy Slim and Grace Jones closing the stage each night for the festivals inaugural year, the festival was deemed a huge success; especially considering how saturated the UK festival market has become.

For the festivals second year, Da Bank and his team have set their sights big, with the festival taking up a twin site in Oxford’s South Park. The event will have Scottish psych indie rock legends Primal Scream headline in Oxford while Southampton boy, Craig David will get to close out the stage in his hometown. Both acts will play each site. For the other night headliners; Rob Da Bank has drafted in one of the biggest bands in pop history with 80’s legends Duran Duran taking to the stage in both Oxford and Southampton respectively. They’ll bring their many hits including; ‘The Reflex’, ‘Hungry Like The Wolf’ and ‘Rio’. After wowing the crowds at Bestival last year its sure to be an unmissable performance.

The 2 day event also boasts a wide range of other artists, including former Supergrass frontman, Gaz Coombes, Katy B, The Magic Gang, Public Enemy and Chas and Dave. This year the festivals Uncommon Stage boasts a wealth of alternative music including some brilliant local artists. Legendary Southampton music venue The Joiners have the pleasure of presenting the stage this year with an array of top quality bands including Palma Violets, Lonely The Brave, Pretty Vicious, Kassassin Street and New Desert Blues. A full line up for each site can be seen in the posters below.

The festival has a wide range of activities to do alongside the music. Theres no camping at Common People so get looking at those hotels!
