The producers of the hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie have announced that the show is to return to the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End in May.
Shane Richie will once again take on the role of Hugo/Loco Chanelle, after playing the character in the West End in 2019.
Richie will be appearing alongside Noah Thomas as Jamie New, Mellissa Jacques as Margaret New, and Sejal Keshwala as Ray. They will be joined by Hibi Elchikhe as Pritti Pasha, and Gillian Ford as Miss Hedge.
Speaking about its return, Richie said “it’s an absolute thrill and an honour to be getting back on stage in London’s West End’s biggest feel-good show. Time to get the heels on!”
The five-time Olivier nominated musical has been in the West End for three years. The story was inspired by a documentary about Jamie Campbell and his dream of being a drag queen at 16 years old.
The show features music by Dan Gillespie Sells, book and lyrics by Tom McRae, and direction by Jonathan Butterall.
A film adaptation of the show is set to be released in early 2021, starring newcomer Max Harwood as Jamie and Richard E Grant as Hugo/Loco Chanel. Shobna Gulati will be reprising the role of Ray after portraying her on the West End.
The show is part of the See it Safely scheme run by UK theatre, ensuring correct safety measures are in place for audiences and the cast. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is now booking until 29 August 2021.
