I’ll Give You The Sun // Jandy Nelson
When it comes to summer reading, most of us don’t want to dive into something too heavy. Jandy Nelson’s I’ll Give You The Sun strikes the perfect balance between easy reading and a quality novel; together, this makes for a book you’ll no doubt fly through but will stay with you long after you’ve closed it. Telling the story of two twins, Noah and Jude, whose once unbreakable bond is torn apart by tragedy, the synopsis gives a similar air to many other contemporary reads, but it is most definitely more than that. Refreshingly quirky and written in beautiful prose, I’ll Give You The Sun will have you pursuing your dreams, hugging the ones you love and embracing your weirdness. Within just a few pages, both Noah and Jude will seem like old friends, and will do until the very end. Sadness isn’t absent from this book, but it’s the type of sadness that hits a perfect, bittersweet note with genuine humour and desperate love. As a nice bonus, every edition of this book is beautifully printed and wonderful to look at; who doesn’t like a book to look beautiful on their shelves? A charming, graceful story, I’ll Give You The Sun will be right at home in your summer reading list.
