The Covasettes play energetic indie rock in the spirit of fellow Mancunians, The Courteeners, but they add their own flavour with a sound that reflects British summertime. Their recent EP, It’s Always Sunny Above the Clouds is an upbeat release full of passion, that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The opener, ‘Twit Twoo’ demonstrates how tight the band are, with some hummable guitar leads and harmonies. The chorus of “I would like to get to know you” is massive, and listeners would find it hard to resist getting up to dance. This ear for melody and crafting catchy guitar licks is present across the EP.

‘You and I’ is a beautiful love song, with the chorus in particular being a big earworm, evocative of Frankie & the Heartstrings. Across the EP, all four of the tracks are extremely addictive and guarantee repeat listens, by which time you’ll love them even more.

‘Let’s Go’ is a fast-paced track, with surf rock-influenced guitar leads which add a distinctive mix. The drums are powerful, while the backing vocals make the track even richer and bigger in sound.

It’s Always Sunny Above the Clouds is an apt title for a sunny EP. With a big tour on the horizon, things are looking really bright for The Covasettes, and I am looking forward to seeing where they’ll go next.
