Electronic Arts (EA) have completed their acquisition of Glu Mobile Inc.
Announcing the news in a press release, EA says the addition of Glu “…will fuel new experiences in mobile, the largest gaming platform in the world.” and will bring significant growth to EA’s existing mobile audience, estimated to be around 100 million players monthly.
According to PocketGamer, Glu Mobile made record revenue in 2020 with a total of $540.5 million. The acquisition by EA has been confirmed to be in the region of $2.1 billion in enterprise value. Glu’s development teams currently include more than 500 people, with the total number of employees joining EA being over 800.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that “We’re thrilled to welcome Glu Mobile to our Electronic Arts family. The combination of our talented teams and powerful IP positions us as a leader in the largest gaming category in the world. We are forming a powerful growth engine that will expand our current games and deliver more amazing new experiences across sports, lifestyle, mid-core, and casual for players everywhere.”
Among the titles currently in the Glu catalogue are Covet Fashion, MLB Tap Sports Baseball and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.
