Disney Dreamlight Valley will leave Early Access in December, but won’t be free-to-play as originally promised.
The game, which was released on Early Access on console and Windows in September 2022, will be fully released on 5 December 2023.
“This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players,” a blog post published on the game’s website explains. “It’s important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley.
“Purchases requiring moonstones will remain optional, fair, and match the level of quality players have come to expect. Players will still be able to collect free Moonstones via Dream Snaps and Chests, or optionally choose to purchase them.”
The core game will cost $39.99, and purchasers will receive 8000 bonus Moonstones. A Gold Edition will also be available to buy for $69.99. This includes exclusive cosmetic items, 15,000 Moonstones, and the new Expansion Pass Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time, which will also be launched on 5 December.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: Cozy Edition will give players 14,500 Moonstones alongside bonus items. It costs $49.99 and can be purchased for Nintendo Switch exclusively in North America. A global lunch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch is planned for 10 November.
To thank Early Access players, the unique cosmetic items included in the game’s Gold Edition will be given free to players who buy and claim a Founder’s Pack by 4 December. Founders will also receive 2500 Moonstones.
The team also announced that the game’s first showcase will take place on 1 November. The showcase will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Live at 5 pm, and will show viewers the new Expansion Pass, A Rift In Time.
