For the first major update of 2023, Dead By Daylight has revealed its newest chapter: Tools of Torment. With a new killer, two new survivors, a whole host of new perks, and visual updates for existing maps, this update is full to the brim with gruesome content.
A far cry from the previous chapter, Forged in Fog, Tools of Torment takes a more modern approach with a new killer: The Skull Merchant. Wielding a wrist-mounted set of claws, Adriana Imai by day is a ruthless tech mogul. But the Realm of the Entity is a perilous place, allowing her to put her toys to the test and hunt her prey as the malevolent Skull Merchant.
The Skull Merchant is proving to be a unique killer with a series of perks to aid her in her relentless pursuit of survivors. She can keep track of survivors using her makeshift drones, made from the skulls of her victims. Providing a new objective for survivors, they’ll need to hack these drones so as not to alert The Skull Merchant to their location, or an even worse fate if they linger in their radius for too long. With her radar, she’ll be able to surveille her victims. The question is: will they be able to get away in time?
Alongside The Skull Merchant, players will be treated to two new survivors: Brazilian siblings Thalita and Renato Lyra. Bringing with them a new selection of “Teamwork” perks, survivors will have to learn to work together if they’re going to survive these trials.
While the Tools of Torment chapter will not feature a new map, existing maps Mother’s Dwelling and The Temple of Purgation will receive a new visual update in-line with the rest of the game. Moreover, The Skull Merchant has set up her base of operations in The Shelter Woods map. A Hunting Camp that reflects the businesswoman above and the vicious hunter below.
From a tortured artist to a horror series legend, Behaviour Interactive are always ready to test the limits of what their game can do. With The Skull Merchant and Lyra duo, the fog is about to become an even deadlier place.
Dead By Daylight: Tools of Torment will launch of March 7th for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch
