Stars of musical theatre, David Hunter and Joanna Woodward, will play the leading roles in the world premiere of The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical.
Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, this musical adaptation is set to make its debut at Storyhouse in Chester, running from 30 September to 15 October 2022. Following its two-week season, the show will transfer to the West End with a venue to be announced at a later date.
The Time Traveller’s Wife follows the intricate love story between Henry DeTamble and Clare Abshire who both must come to terms with Henry’s unique ability to time travel. As he uncontrollably drifts from one-time period to another, their love must stretch far beyond the boundaries of time if they seek some semblance of a normal life.
David Hunter will play Henry who previously starred in the Tony award-winning musical Waitress. He will be joined by Joanna Woodward as Clare, who has recently understudied and played Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical.
The cast also includes Aisha Davis as Dr Kendrick, Ross Dawes as Henry’s Dad, Hiba Elchikhe as Charisse, Stevie Hutchinson as Clare’s Dad, Tim Mahendran as Gomez, Sorelle Marsh as Henry’s Mum, Benjamin Purkiss as Jason / Mark and Alwyne Taylor as Old Clare. The actresses playing Young Clare are yet to be announced.
The production has a book by Lauren Gunderson with original music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning composers Joss Stone and Dave Stewart.
