Crossplay functionality has been added to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, allowing PC and PlayStation players to team up through Epic Online Services.

This was revealed in Mediatonic’s Season Six mid-season update announcement

PC and Playstation players can now join the same party by linking Fall Guys to their Epic Games account and using the ‘Invite Players’ function. Cross-platform lobbies became available for Custom Shows last May, but this is the first time that players from different formats can enjoy Duos, Squads and Main Shows together.

A new game mode called Sweet Thieves was also announced and will be released in the “very near future”. Competitors will be split into two teams of Thieves and Guardians, tasked with either stealing candy or detaining their adversaries. An exclusive walking mechanic will feature in Sweet Thieves, which Mediatonic have promised to share more details of in a deep-dive and trailer.

The announcement also gave an update on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions of Fall Guys which are yet to release.

Mediatonic said: “We know that news regarding Fall Guys on Nintendo Switch and Xbox is highly anticipated.

“We’re finalising development, and though it isn’t within this update, it’s still coming! Until then, we’re super excited to enable this cross-platform functionality for our existing platforms as a first step.”

A PlayStation 5 format of Fall Guys is in the works too, however, the game can be accessed on the console now through PlayStation 4 backwards compatibility.

Some bug fixes were introduced in the update, with these tweaking certain game modes and preventing players from getting kicked out of custom lobbies.

Epic Games acquired Mediatonic’s parent company Tonic Games Group last March, however, Fall Guys has remained on Steam

Fall Guys was first released in August 2020, with the game seeing up to 60 players compete as jelly bean-shaped characters in an obstacle course battle royale. It was accessible for free on PlayStation Plus upon launch and set a world record by becoming the most downloaded title from the service while it was obtainable.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now on PC and PS4, with Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions in development.
