Paramount + have confirmed they have renewed Criminal Minds: Evolution for a third season ahead of the season two release.

The series is both a sequel and a revival of the original TV show which is arguably one of the most memorable and iconic shows in television from the early 2000s period. Since being on streaming services, such as Amazon Prime and Disney+, it’s attracted a whole new fan base leading to the demand of Criminal Minds: Evolution.

The show is currently streaming its second season and stars the same original cast members that fans know and love. Joe Mantegna is back as David Rossi, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, and Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia.

For those who haven’t watched Criminal Minds before, it focuses on the BAU (Behavioural Analysis Unit) department of the FBI as they catch criminals by delving into their behaviour, and why they might behave the way they do. The agents tackle different types of criminals, from kidnappers to murderers, observing every aspect of the evidence and who might be responsible along the way.

Even though the show’s writing does depict antagonists loosely based on real life criminals, it also exhibits the unique and individual lives of each of the agents as they put themselves on the line. Fans enjoy that although the show is at times dark and gripping, it’s also wholesome and compassionate in its storytelling.

The Evolution series is a comeback from when the original show ended in 2020, using the Covid-19 pandemic as a plot driver. Considered by fans as season 16, Evolution attracted existing and new fans to the show.

The first episodes of season two of the show are now streaming on Paramount + but will be dropping on Disney+ this Friday. With so much buzz, it’s no doubt the renewal by Paramount+ has come at a good time.
