Comma Press to Hold The Publishing Conference in April

Comma Press, in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, has announced a two-day online publishing conference, to be held on 24 April and 25 April. This event is aimed at increasing accessibility to the industry, and to provide vital information and support to aspiring publishers.

The conference will include two free events, which will be livestreamed on YouTube. These will be an introduction to the industry with James Spackman and a panel on how to break into the industry, with publishing and recruitment professionals:

The paid packages, priced at £25, will provide access to eight additional sessions delivered by industry professionals, offering publishing hopefuls information and support about breaking into the industry.

Speakers include Marianne Tatepo (Ebury Publishing) Farzana Khan (Hachette Children’s), Matt Casbourne (Duckworth Books), Poppy Stimpson (Pushkin Press), Sarah Cleave (Comma Press), Alesha Bonser (Penguin), Marina Stavropoulou (Bonnier) and Kit Caless (Influx). The CV and interview skills workshop will be led by Debbie Williams (Manchester Metropolitan University).

These sessions will give important resources and guidance to those who may feel intimidated about pursuing a career in the publishing industry. Those underrepresented by the industry, such as LGBTQ+, disabled, POC and those from low income families, will also be given the opportunity to receive free sponsored tickets.
