The hit musical 9 to 5 and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella have confirmed details of new tour dates following the Government announcement of the route out of lockdown.
According to the official Cinderella Instagram page, the stage is being set and rehearsals have already started. After months of revisions to the opening date, Lloyd Webber confirmed that the first performance of Cinderella will debut on 14 July 2021.
In a statement following the announcement, Lloyd Webber said “I want to lead the way and give others confidence to follow suit by getting major musicals back open – they are the powerhouse of the West End – and have been out of action for almost a year now.”
Meanwhile, producers of the jukebox musical 9 to 5 have also announced plans to start touring again on 21 June 2021. The Dolly Parton musical has plans to tour a variety of venues throughout the Summer of 2021 including, Sheffield Lyceum, Edinburgh Playhouse, Manchester Palace, Bristol Hippodrome and the Liverpool Empire.
In light of the return of theatre, Lloyd Webber commented, “I cannot wait to welcome back audiences to live theatre and bring life, employment and joy back to our capital city after a harrowing past year.”
The final casting for both shows is yet to be revealed. However, tickets are already on sale and further details are expected to be announced soon.
