Fresh from her role as Fantine in Les Misérables, West End actress Chanice Alexander-Burnett has joined the cast of Dorian A New Musical, which will return to the The Other Palace Studio this November following its successful run last year.

Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, this new musical adaptation will provide a modern twist on the classic Gothic novel, combining a variety of different influences from Bowie to Brecht.

After becoming an overnight sensation, Dorian Gray suddenly discovers all his wildest dreams have come into fruition, but at what terrifying cost? He claims to have sold his soul in exchange for eternal youth and seeks redemption. But is it too late for him to reclaim his innocence and change the course of his life?

Elliot Gooch will star as the eponymous antihero and will be joined by Harry Boyd, James Rockey, and Ashley Goh who will play the roles of Henry Wotton, Basil Hallward and Sibyl Vane/Fabian. The show also stars Chanice Alexander-Burnett as Victoria Wotton who, in this version, is a dangerous and provocative villainess.

The show will be directed and written by Linnie Reedman and features a newly composed score from Joe Evans. He has shared his excitement for the production: “It’s so exciting to see this piece make it onto the London stage, with such a dream cast that brings the script, music and lyrics to vivid life…Hot on the heels of Halloween too—the timing is perfect.”

Performances run from 1-6 November 2022 with tickets available for purchase on The Other Palace website.
