Cast Announced for World Premiere Touring Production of ‘Bombay Superstar’

The full cast has been announced for the world premiere of Sâmir Bhamra’s Bombay Superstar, a Bollywood musical set in the sizzling disco era of the 1970s.

Co-produced by Belgrade Theatre Coventry and the New Wolsey Theatre, the production stars Nisha Aaliya (Ghosts, Girl on the Train, and Bring on the Bollywood) as Laila and Rav Moore (Precious Bazaar, Bollywood Jane, and Band Baaja Dance) as Sikandar.

Additional cast members include Pia Sutaria as Mala; Robby Khela as Vicky; Sheetal Pandya as Dolly; Yanick Ghanty as Tiger; Chirag Rao as Din Dayal; Amar as Pammi. Furthermore, Daisy Hardy, Pavan Maru, and Alexandra Adams will make their professional debut as part of the ensemble.

The creative team features Sâmir Bhamra (director), Rohan Shah and Shruti Shah (choreographers), Chirag Lukha (fight choreographer), Mark Jonathan (lighting designer), Hinal Pattani (musical director), Lewis den Hertog (video and caption design), and Sophie Kandola (assistant director).

Production director and creator, Bhamra commented on the production: “With Bombay Superstar I’ve re-created this happy era of bell bottoms and sparkly sarees with live music, soaring singing to the heights and a story that pulls on your every emotion, in a show that guarantees joy, a great occasion to get together with family and friends and full-on Paisa Vasool! (worth every penny).”

Bombay Superstar is delivered in English and sung in Hindi with subtitles. The production will run from 18 October to 19 November 2022, visiting Coventry, Truro, Ipswich, Salford, and Southampton.
