The cast has been announced for Addictive Beat, the new play by award-winning playwright Dawn King (The Trials, Foxfinder, and Brave New World (UK Tour)).
It has been revealed that Dunkirk lead Fionn Whitehead, and Boadicea Ricketts (Grantchester) will star in the original production described as “part gig, part theatre”.
The production is directed by Rob Drummer (Natives, Confidence, Radio Elusia), and will feature original music by dance, electronic, and EDM producer Anikdote.
Drummer commented regarding the cast: “Kate Bush once said that music saves people and at its core that is what Addictive Beat is about. We all have that one song that can pull us out of the darkest of times and Dawn in all of her brilliance has crafted a powerful show about being young, creative and struggling with working out who you are.
“I cannot think of two greater actors to share a rehearsal space with than Fionn and Boadicea, who are going to blow our audiences away.”
Addictive Beat follows DJ Alex (Whitehead) and singer-songwriter Robbi (Ricketts), best friends who are connected by their love of music and their desire for admiration for their art. The duo face inner demons, exacerbated by the potential of fame brought about by their fruitful musical collaborations. Ultimately, Alex and Robbi are forced to ask themselves a crushing question: what is the high they are really chasing, and is the come down worth it?
Addictive Beat runs from Wednesday 21 September to Friday 7 October at Dilston Gallery in Southwark Park, London.
