Fans of Call of Duty have had their first look at gameplay from the next instalment in the franchise.
The first trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II focuses on details of the game’s single-player campaign story. Central to the story will be Task Force 141, which features returning characters Captain John Price, Captain John “Soap” McTavish, Sgt Kyle “Gaz” Garrick and Lt Simon “Ghost” Riley”, as they travel the globe.
The trailer features the team in battle on land, sea and air in both day and nighttime environments, showcasing some of the mission types which will form the game’s story when the game releases later this year.
Along with the release of the trailer, Activision and Infinity Ward confirmed the game will have an open beta later this year – which will be open to those who pre-order Modern Warfare II – and that the game will be available on both Steam and Battle.net on PC. The multiplayer Warzone will also be expanded for the new release, with a new mobile version currently in development.
Activision and Infinity Ward also unveiled the special Vault Edition of the game, which will include additional bonus items at launch, 50 tier skips, a Red Tier 141 Operator pack and Season 1 Battle Pass. This edition and the Standard Edition are available for pre-order now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC from October 28, 2022. Pre-orders are available now.
