The mischievous, beloved NPC returns as The Sims team reintroduces an updated version of burglars with new interactions and a Lot Challenge.

Long time Sims players have cause for celebration with the return of burglars as part of The Sims’ 25th birthday

Starting in January, the anniversary has included re-releasing The Sims and The Sims 2, new Create-A-Sim and Build-Mode items, and a “Blast from the Past” event, during which you can unlock items in The Sims 4 inspired by features in past games. The Sims 4: Business & Hobbies Expansion pack will also be released on March 6.

The latest instalment in the franchise left out many of the quirkier elements and NPCs from older games like The Social Bunny. In fact, upon release, The Sims 4 infamously didn’t include what was considered basic parts of the game, such as pools and toddlers. It seems that during the 25th anniversary, the Sims team is embracing the nostalgia and chaos present in releases like The Sims 2.

On 25th February, the burglar “Robin Banks” was included in a free update for The Sims 4. The NPC “only strikes at night, sneaking into your Sim’s home while everyone is fast asleep… Before you know it, she’ll be grabbing whatever’s valuable and making her escape”, according to Sims Designer Xènia

The Burglar Alarm is also now available again in Build-Mode with new gameplay; Sims with the Handiness skill can upgrade the alarm with features such as zapping the robber and automatically calling the police. This new feature also interacts with expansion packs, introducing new interactions with Occult Sims and Pets.

The Sims 4 also deviates from previous iterations of burglars by introducing a new lot challenge: “Heist Havoc” for players who want to be visited by the NPC more frequently.

The Sims 4 is available now on console and PC.
