Like anything in this age – festivals are becoming competitive. With the many outgoing acts which they are able to attract us with, it becomes a struggle to decide between which festival we’d most rather attend. The BST Festival (1st to 10th July) beautifully weaves together different genres, age groups and acts of various stages in their career to perform live for us.
With allocated days moulded to different tastes, each day is tailored to suit specific sounds. This means that whilst there are many popular acts to choose from, this festival is also a great opportunity to scout out some fresh artists.
On the opening day of the event, Massive Attack will be performing to the tune of many trip-hop fans, alongside Patti Smith, Warpaint and Ghostpoet.
Following that, Florence + the Machine, Jamie XX and Kendrick Lamar will be performing. This day is surely going to ignite an ethereal atmosphere.
Carol King, the goddess of ‘Tapestry’ will be performing, in addition to Don Henley.
And on the second to last day, Mumford and Sons and alternative four-piece band, Wolf Alice, will make their own respective appearances – along with Alabama Shakes.
The full line-up can be viewed on the BST website.
Last year, this festival proved to have fans roaring and thoroughly enjoying themselves – leaving 2016 to be another year full of promise and entertainment. The diversity, personality and charm from BST offers an alternative to other festivals, which often swamp you in a heap of artists – of which over half you may not even enjoy.
In the beautiful setting of Hyde Park, BST certainly has a lot to offer for those of us who may be slightly tired of trudging around a festival for those acts that you desperately want to see.
