Cinephiles have the Oscars and BAFTAs, haute-couture and fashion lovers have the year-defining Met Gala, and here in the UK, music lovers have The BRITs. Despite the patriotic epithet, there are categories that recognise non-British artists, with names such as Chappell Roan, Post Malone and Sabrina Carpenter seeing themselves nominated for International Song of the Year.
The nominations for 2025 see many artists breaking barriers, with Nia Archives being the first Jungle artist to be recognised in three categories, and rising stars The Last Dinner Party looking for a four-award sweep if they are announced victor of their award categories.
Perhaps one of the most heavily anticipated categories is that of The BRITs’ ‘Rising Star’. This award is uncanny in its predictions of who’s the “next big thing”, seeing previous winners such as Adele, Florence + The Machine and Sam Fender, up and coming artists vie to be named as even just a nomination for this coveted title.
The winners for the 2025 edition of The BRITs are set to be announced at a ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on March 1st, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.
