Stanley Kubrick
Finally, we come to this great man. One of the most iconic directors of all time, Stanley Kubrick shook the world with films like Full Metal Jacket, 2001: A Space Odyssey and his adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining. Kubrick was nominated for Best Director on four occasions for Dr. Strangelove (Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb), 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, and Barry Lyndon. Kubrick was a visionary director, and was more than deserving of an Oscar, especially for Space Odyssey. It’s unfortunate that one of the greats never managed to win an Oscar which should have had his name written all over it.
