The new stage production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has seen its UK tour delayed, and will now open on 25 August in Bristol.

The tour was set to open on 25 May at the Leicester Curve, before visiting Dublin, but will now open three months later due to the ongoing pandemic.

The Olivier Award-winning musical, based on Disney’s Oscar-winning animation of the same name, follows a young village girl who finds herself falling in love with an arrogant prince stuck with a curse that has transformed him into a beast.

A new production of the show was announced by Disney in September 2020 and will be the show’s first national tour in 20 years. The production was last in the UK in 2001 after a successful premier on the West End in 1997.

A statement on the production’s website reads “we understand the disappointment this will cause, but the health and wellbeing of our audiences, cast, crew and theatre staff have to remain paramount as we make plans to bring our shows back to the stage.”

“There will be the option to transfer your booking into an alternative performance/ different seat or request a full refund should the new performance dates not be suitable.”

The Dublin dates have been rescheduled for November 2022. However, due to the delay, Beauty and the Beast is now unable to perform in Leicester.

Ticket holders are advised to contact their point of purchase if they have any enquiries about the date changes.
